Each year we gather to break out of our silos and have a meaningful discussion about how to reduce healthcare harm. This year we will be meeting on May 15th at the OMNI hotel in downtown Nashville Tennessee.

We are honored to have amazing speakers and panelists to share their insights.

  • Dr Thomas Treasure: Surgeon, Author & Researcher
  • Dr. Alex Mitchell: Surgeon & Design Build Consultant
  • Kyle Rudolph: 12 seasons with MN vikings, 2x Probowler
  • Dr. Marty Makary will not be able to join us this year due to his recent FDA appointment.

In support of all the amazing work they do, we look forward to handing a large donation check to St. Jude Children's at the conclusion of the event. There are many ways to support St. Jude while also supporting the D4Z SUMMIT.



Agenda for the day



Dr. Bernard Harris will start us off with a session on how healthcare is addressed from around the world.

Dr. Tom Treasure will discuss the importance of evidence based research in the reduction of harm.


Dr. Alex Mitchell will discuss how to design and build for the future from a surgeon's perspective.

The afternoon will be centered around stakeholders perspectives on the Design, Construction and Use of surgical suites and what is being done to address healthcare harm.

Attendees will receive 6 CEU's for the days sessions.



CElebrating success - Hospital



The D4Z Governing board selects one hospital per year to receive the distinguished D4Z HOSPITAL award. This year's recipient will be announced at the end of the day.



cElebrating success - architect



The D4Z Project of the year will be awarded to the top three architectural firms. These firms will submit their project entries to be selected from an online vote of their peers. All winners will be announced at the end of the day at the awards ceremony.
